Nice to hear it OG. Although, TBH, what you are describing I think is 'normal' liveaboards - and I don't think anyone has any issues with normal, law-abiding and perfectly decent/pleasant folk who happen to live on a boat. In fact, I have every intention of one day becoming one of these chaps myself (one day).

However, I think the folks we're talking about up here (or down there, depending on your relative perspective), do not really fall into the gategory of 'normal, law-abiding and perfectly decent/pleasant folk'! (I think )

We do have many small boatyards down here which do quietly accomodate the sort of chap and chappess( or other) who chose to live aboard a small boat for whatever reason.
One boatyard in fact is right next door to where we moor and have come to know several of the owners very well indeed.
There are several proper residential marinas as well on the Medway as well as places which are a bit of both and of course a couple of big posh marinas to complete the picture.
In fact just about every sort of boater is catered for down here from rowers to ex commercial stuff converted into unusual homes.
There will always be those who choose to live a different way of life from the rest of us and good luck to them.
Perhaps its because we have a bit more room to move down here ?

I wouldn't wish the 'unsavoury characters' we are talking about on the Medway !
