Reserve Not Met

I am the first type of buyer. The boats I want I can't afford. What I can afford I don't really want, and if i'm having a boat I want my heart in it.
Result= still no boat and the way the prices aren't dropping it looks like staying that way for another season.
I'll stick to renting for the foreseeable future until something happens.

This reminds me of a thread I started ages ago:
'What happens to all the unsold boats?'
Answer: They're all left rotting away 'cos the owner won't sell it for 500 quid less than what he thinks he can get for it.
Yep £500 is probably stupid, but there is no shortage of would be buyers who think 40pct less than asking price is doing the seller a favour...oddly, they dont have a boat

At the same time losing a boat for £500 is pretty daft too, that is probably less than filling the tank so you will buy it if the tanks are full but not if they are on the red.

Interesting that he let the 200k offer expire, that's a chip of approx 9%, unless he sold it off eBay of course.

A Genuine buyer has usually researched the market, knows what the boat is worth (subject to condition), so if you are looking at a particular model & it's above your price range by a considerable amount (guestimate around 10%) then there's probably no hope of securing it for for what you as a buyer consider to be true market value.

I know of a boat that we made an offer for nearly 2 seasons ago, sell for what the vendor wanted even though they had to wait nearly two seasons to get it, so he had two seasons use, two seasons depreciation but it was a popular boat, just needed someone who appreciated the value of what they were buying to come along, so what's the problem with that?

Guess you need to be more realistic to what your money will buy and not assume that every one who owns a boat you want to buy is being unrealistic with what they want to sell for.

Guess your hoping for a depression where every owner is trying to give you a boat!

Purely my own observations of Ebay:

Upon looking at the boat i noticed it had been repainted, and noticed two tins of paint, one gloss white and one red, funnily they were the same colour as the boat and were cheap household gloss..

I really must admit that this comment "Made my Day"
The fact that where the boat was located, ie., on a Council Estate should not put you off as I live on a Council Estate (In an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Lake District) and I bought it as a Snatchback (re-possession) as it was all I can afford as I cant sell my French House.
Anyway when I am looking for something for sale I get the address and go on "Google Street View" and have a look at their house before I go.
The other thing which I am a bit sensitive about is when forinstance a Fairline Squadron is being sold for a "Friend"

Oh aye, it always tickles me that; "selling for a friend/relative who has no internet". Yeah, right. Is that just in case its nicked, a duffer, a ringer or on finance or what ever?
