Strangely can't find anything through search of forum.

As I understand it one needs a Yellow Q flag going to and from Channel Islands from a UK port. Is there a CI courtesy flag? Presumably a French courtesy flag would be useful just in case although they don't require a Q flag until 31st December. Also can one get clearance online going either way?

My understanding is -

A Q flag is formally required if going from UK to, or returning to UK from, the Channel Islands. It will also be required to visit EU countries from 1 Jan 2021. (The Channel Islands authorities seem fairly relaxed about this requirement. Don't bank on UK authorities being so.)

A courtesy flag is not required (the clue is in the name!). As there are different states in the Channel Islands, it's a different flag for Jersey than for Guernsey, etc.

I'm slowly collecting the various CI flags but you don't actually need them though if you have a British ensign. If you are in Alderney without one, buy it from the chandlery as it can create quite a conversation !
