I currently have a 19ft fishing boat with a volvo 120hp petrol and outdrive. I would like to increase fishing space by moving the engine from right aft, forward by 4ft onto new mounts etc. This would obviously require extensions to water intake and exhaust and also a prop shaft to be made. Has anyone tried moving their engine? What problems occurred. I can overcome weight distribution by moving fuel and water tanks aft.
Any comments?
Thanks guys.

Seems like a lot of wooork for not that much gain, some points to consider...
1;is the hull upto supporting the weight at the new posistion
2;-new engine bearers will have to be installed onto hull
3;said propshaft would need a supporting bearing mid way, another mounting on the hull
4;would you be able to get in the front cabin??/ as you do,t say what boat you have.
5;cost...would it be better to trade up to a larger boat with more rear deck space.
Hope this gives fuel for thought ,on my project i moved the engine back to it,s original posistion as found the part converted mid engine was so much in the way it was unworkable, see link below.
