replacing sprayhood with windscreen

As for forming the base for a screen, the problem of getting a straight line may not be so difficult, if one obtained some foam.
One could carve it to the shape of the cabin top & then sand/file/cut a straight line along the top. That should not be hard using cardboard scribed to the shape & taking small cuts at a time. One could take it to a GRP moulder & have a section made in GRP with flanges for bolting to the deck. A typical firm would be G Eeles at Brightlingsea.( they do stuff for Spirit Yachts such as all the carbon fibre work on the last couple of super yachts) I have seen how they make sections in foam then do moulding from that..
Once that was bolted down the screen could be mounted off it. Holes for ropes etc could be cast into the base to suit.

Pilkington is owned by the Japanese ( NSG I think, may be wrong) & is not a minow.
Yes Google is one's friend.
Saint Gobain's turnover alone is £50.44 Billion
China's exports are $17.9 billion
China may export a small quantity but the main producers are in Europe.
But I do not see how your failed attempts at point scoring are helping the thread, so may I suggest we call it quits & leave it there ;)
I am sure others might agree
Cheers

I'm sorry but having 26% of the total international export market for tempered and toughened glass is not small. I said the UK (which I think is Pilkington) is a small exporter as they only export 1.8%. I guess most of the turnover is 'simple' float glass.

You were, and continue to, desire to show your knowledge of the laminated and toughened glass market - focus.

We were actually talking about the availability for toughened cut to size glass. You made comment that China had no glass makers on your list. I was simply pointing out that this was misleading. If you know so much to score points please be accurate with the data and break down the turnover figure to something that is relevant. My interpretation is - you don't have the data and are simply obfuscating. So on that basis lets leave it alone - though if you have the data - it would be interesting - it might come up in a pub trivia night and it would be valuable if this thread serves more than one purpose. I also am happy to be educated and am sufficiently humble to learn. So focus on laminated and toughened glass and come up with the data.

I wonder how you know I know nothing about glass making. :)

As background - I was R&D manager for one of the, two, companies that supplied the lining of the furnaces in the UK for Pilkington in which the glass was made at the time that Pilkington developed the float glass process. Where were you when that work was going on? I was there. How much do you really know - hands on - about glass making? and the float glass process.

Take care, stay safe

I think pvb was correct in that these windows are expensive! I like the look of them so asked for a very rough figure to work to for a centre cockpit 40 ish footer so remember the price is very rough but it works out at approx £700 ex VAT per panel. So again very rough price for a 5 panel set up would be near £4.2k onwards.
Shame as I really liked the look of them
