The windows in my boat are a bit aged and have a crazed effect in the plastic, anyone know of any good replacements and the type of replacement I should be looking for.

Lots of differing views over the 3 possible replacements
Toughened Glass - Ultimate replacement for flat windows, but expensive and heavy
Acrylic - easiest to work with and surface will take some punishment. Strong but susceptible to UV damage, so replace before 10 years
Polycarbonate. - the strongest, but most flexible. Surface is softest and thus can scratch easiest. Some polycarbonate is available with a hardened surface. The flexibility can make it more difficult to seal properly.
Lots of boat window manufacturers available, but no data on boat type or location so what do you expect?????

The boat is a 1964 Diamond 2 the forerunner of the Halcyon 27. The windows are plain and flat albeit a bit crazed. The boat is long keel and made of GRP.
How are they attached? Screwed or bolted to the coachroof sides? set in rubber like a car window? set in aluminium frames?
The basic screw on or bolt on are usually cut from plastic - acrylic or preferrably polycarbonate. You can get from any local sign maker, cut to pattern or you can cut and drill yourself. Alternatively many suppliers advertise in the back of mags. Examples www.sunlightplastics.co.uk or www.eaglewindows.co.uk for framed windows.
Take one off to see how it is bedded in. Expect the sealer will be hard and need scraping off.
If they are plastic then the suggestions to get replacements made by a sign maker is a good route. You can cut and drill yourself, but I think it is worth having the supplier do them as they do a much better job. Probably worth getting new fastenings as well.
