Replacement standing rigging South West

Can anyone recommend a company to replace standing rigging @ sensible prices in the SW. Boat based in the Plymouth area.

I did all mine myself. I took all the old rigging off, measured it all, and then sent the measurements to Jimmy Green with my exact requirements, i.e. swaging, terminals, etc and they made it all perfectly, and all within 3 days. Its alot cheaper this way than getting a rigger to do it. Mine cost me <£140 for the lot (19' yacht), but a rigger had said nearer £400 to do it.... more than makes it worthwhile, IMO.

Hi, The best by far IMHO is Allspars Ltd (01752 266766) who are based at Queen Anne's Battery Marina in Plymouth.

They did the whole of my rigging about 2 years ago and it was excellent. Perfect lengths and perfect swages at a very reasonable price compared with other riggers in the city. Very highly recommended. I have used others here over the years but was nowhere near as impressed.

Oh, and extremely nice people to deal with too!!!

The Boathouse in Penryn made mine up for me, and they was less than half the price jimmy green quoted me, like yourself i did all the fixing myself, quite easy on my boat as i have a mast lowering device made up.

I went to look at a boat in Plymouth Yacht haven 2 weeks ago. When the issue of standing rigging came up the broker said that the new rigger in the yard was A1 and much cheaper than others in the area as he was trying to get a foot in the door.

I have used Allspars, Eurospars, and Plymouth Yacht Rigging Services.

All are capable riggers and what I normally do is to get a quote off each. In terms of quality, I don't believe that there is anything to choose. Just make sure you specify exactly what you want and compare like with like.

If you just want the rigging making up go to Marlift on Language industrial estate. They produced some of the very best quality rigging and swageing I have seen for a long time. Well worth a quote.
