The white rubber fender around the lip of the sugar scoop stern of my boat was damaged by a Yates Alemanes Bewaria last summer in Formentara (and still waiting for the insurance payout grrr).

The damage is mostly cosmetic, caused by their anchor chain gouging it and ripping it slightly in one place. Can anybody suggest a means of repairing it? I thought of using sikaflex, but that would yellow with age. Or maybe a hot-knife?

i wd get a man on it who fancies his chances with these most noticeable bits of GRP on a sailing boat. Or, cheaper, bodge with new fender protecty thing so you don't see it all the time. Insurancewise, praps get a lower price by offering a bigger excess - that way you wd fix it anyway - which is what you're doing - but wouldn't feel bad about the insurance peeps. imho!

The fender is not GRP, it is synthetic rubber. And it is not my insurance that is paying, it is the other party's as it was there fault. Changing my own insurance policy would not make a jot of difference.
