Removing rust stains

I suspect that the boat owner next to me has been doing some angle grinding as there is a large rash of what looks like small rust stains on the non slip surface of my cockpit.
Can anyone recommend something that will remove them? I've tried a non slip deck cleaner on this task before but with not much effect.

Oxalic Acid, that the thing that will remove rust stains almost immediately.

2nd oxalic acid.. try your local chemist.... most bottles of boat products have oxalic in it in small amounts....

I had a similar problem after cleaning a fender with a brillo pad all the metal bits went rusty on the deck.

take care it is an acid and it is also somewhat poisonous. Gloves and eye protection. Wash splashes off the skin.

The trouble however is that the little metal particles are often hot enough to melt themselves into the surface so that the rust stains which although easy to remove with oxalic acid keep coming back.

Tell your neighbour to clean it up!

Thanks. I will try Y10 first which I have. The safety procedures for oxalic acid are noted.

That's a right b*******d to get off ... I have some on my deck from work done years ago. You get the stain off after real effort - month or so later it's back again.

Oxalic or strong WC cleaner ...

Oven cleaner (paste) too, does a good job and only a pound from the "pound shop!"

I got my Oxalic from Woodcare too.
Works a treat on rust. Rinse off thorougly and don't leave on painted surfaces.
