removing old red oxide

can anybody tell me the best method for removing hard old red oxide from a steel hull apart from shot blasting ,nitramores doesn't touch it

if you try blowtorching it off be wary of the fumes,I made myself physically sick cutting up an old trailer that had been red oxide painted.

I used a big angle grinder with a 9inch dia wire brush like a cathrine wheel (wires point out radially ) which I bought from a welders supply shop. Its meant for deburring pipe welds etc.It will shift anything down to bare steel but its hard to hold up under the boat .YOU MUST have face mask/goggles/long leather gloves and stout protective clothing as the grinder can snatch & flick off the hull into ones lap!!

Thanks guys ,used the angle grinder with the catherine wheel wire brush ,worked very well ,supported the grinder by hanging from bungie cord from above to take most of the weight ,done a complete side today ,very good finnish took off all very hard paint
