How do I remove the black stains from teak due to water ingress under the old varnish. I have sanded quite hard but still they remain...

I have used oxalic acid on teak in the past with good results. many of the teak brightening products on the market use it, Used to be able to get it from old style chemist shops, don't know how you would get on in Boots, Good luck, Mike.

Hi There, there is a branded product called Netrol that contains oxalic acid and is available from good paint shops that will remove these stains. Do not use wood bleaches without Oxalic acid as they will give the teak a horrible pale colour.
