Remind me, please...

it goes sticky and horrible and gets even dirtier. oh and slippey when wet - not good. (how do you spell slippey?)
although it doesn't look quite as good, just leaving it alone and washing with sea water kills the mould and mildew, and it then does what its supposed to.

OK I admit it, I break out the two pack cleaner every now and then to get that golden look for a few months

Don't do it :disgust:

I was naive and persuaded to use it on our fist boat, boy how I regretted it.

I scrubbed for days with blistered hands trying to rid my teak of the dreaded stuff that attracted dirt.

After I could do no more it was time for the Wessex Treatment

It was much better but never quite the same :ambivalence:

A decent coat of Semco locks the golden colour in - not cheap but highly recommended.

I have seen a boat with an oiled deck and it had become almost black. The Wessex two part cleaner /brightener transformed it . I have used the wessex products and feel they are well worth the expense.
I have some Semco sealer but haven't used it yet. A friend did and it was a good result, but he re-treated after 6 months.

Semco may look good when first applied but when it goes "off" it looks green and gets slippery. Having just used a great deal of elbow grease removing it from the decks I think I will stick to salt water and Patio Magic for general cleaning with an occasional application of Wessex two stage treatment.

Thanks IDAMAY
I took some Semco out to the boat (in Spain) last time and was going to treat the bathe platform to a coat or two this time out. I'll just keep it for the teak table following your comment.

Boracol for silver teak finish, a biocide that kills all mould and slime, keeps cleaning to an absolute minimum and protects the teak for a long life.

Not sure the Semco is responsible for the algae, but perhaps it does act as a feed. My decks were greening, but all gone with a spray over with Patio Magic on top of the Semco.
