Not boaty but i have a neighbor who has married 3 times and divorced twice the same woman.

If we'd let her go because she wasn't for us, then yes, definitely shouldn't go back. However, it was pure circumstances and it took me quite a while to come to terms with the necessity; it was incredible good fortune my best mate bought her and fell for her too tbh

I'm down here for a few days continuing to polish her back up to a standard as I've the time to.

Zombie resurrection alert

It's six years on and she's moving up North still with my mate. I've had quite a few trips out on her since as crew. And I have to say, the feelings haven't changed. A lottery win or a big job change would still have me snap her up without hesitation. I've had six years since the start of this post, where I've been knackered working on her, or been out at sea, seasick as a dog because someone thinks a force 6 is just fun, and I've also seen the expensive aspects of owning her a few times now. I'm not sure if there are many things I don't know at least something about on her.

If the attachment hasn't gone in all that time with the mix of experiences when she wasn't mine, I ain't sure it will go LOL.

I still keep looking for Cadet 4500, named Doodah. It had yellow sails given to me by Cranfields. My father wanted to be able to see how I was doing!!

I have kept track of some of the earlier boats I've owned, and still hanker after two of them, but the memory maybe better than the reality if I were to buy back one of them today. Those I've lost track of I worry that they've secumbed to age or neglect and fear to find out.

Strange how they get under your skin, even after swallowing the anchor two years ago. (We were sorely tempted this summer but finally sense prevailed).

I’ve passed on a number of boats locally, dinghies and larger. Sadly they all seem to end up underutilised and full of rainwater, beards of weed on their waterlines. Hate to see it, especially on the ones that I built from scratch. That’s life I guess, so I just shake my head and walk on, happy with the memories of my ownership.

Dreamfinder got under my skin 13 years ago, and still affects me now, despite reminding myself of the fuel issue where we will have to pay full price for diesel and she takes couple of thousand litres.

I just tell myself that if circumstances allow it, I'll make the offer because actually I feel as though I ain't chasing anything else in life anyway. So why not.

I bought a dinghy back again. In fact I've done it twice. People just don't look after wooden boats.

Odd times I say I might sell the 5m Kormoran ... wife says NO ... lots of good memories.

She was pushing me to sell the ex Soviet motorboat ... but once I put a decent engine on ... seats out of my Volvo ..... now its KEEP IT !

Superanne - the 25ft Motorsailer ... another that gets the KEEP IT stamp !!
