Spurred on by this month's PBO "100 questions answered" suppliment, I have decided to attack the hob burners on my plastimo Atlantic cooker.
Whilst I am able to clean-up the lower parts, one of the top caps has lost nearly all it's original enamel. This is a pity because the cooker is otherwise pristine and works a treat.
Has anyone successfully re-enamalled a burner top? I can find powder enamel on the net for a couple of quid but this needs 800 degrees C to melt it. Is there a lower temperature alternative or this this simply a job to leave to the professionals (with minimum order charges to spoil the fun)?
I have tried without success to find a source of spare parts. (My cooker must be a 1989 vintage and plastimo only list spares from 1991 onwards)
Thanks

A gas blowlamp will give sufficient heat to fuse the enamel such as

or

Available in B&Q or your local hardware store or Halfords or ........

Make sure the piece to be enameled is spotlessly clean before starting. In addition to the enamel powder, you will also need flux.
