Refurbish a Facnor SD 180 furler drum and swivel

The design of the upper swivel has changed. My original one bought in 2003 was open with no seals or grease. Its replacement bought in 2017 is a more sophisticated device, grease filled and sealed, much heavier and more expensive.

Mine is the 2003 version, open at both ends with no seals ......... so your old top swivel was not greased/oiled at all, and open to the elements? How did you service it, or did it die?

I used to water wash it every year, as advised. It wore badly and eventually would not rotate properly.
