Red diesel in Ostend

It only takes one over officious customs person to ruin your holiday.
Carrying 1600 litres of fuel onboard and the chance of one or two euros per litre fine, there is no way we will risk it until the whole situation is sorted and that means sorted properly at the right levels (government/EU).
Despite Robert being 'god' he doesn't have the ability to change his government's rules or, rather, their interpretation of an EU rule. It's our money we risk by visiting.
I miss Belgium and Holland, and have spent many happy trips from Niewpoort right up to Den Helder and in all the inland areas in between over the past fifteen years, and we are desperate to go back, but cannot see us going there for now. It's also a bit of an own goal for their economy as we are not the only UK boat giving them a miss while this possibility hangs over all of us.
€4.30/l in Holland 3 years ago, based on tank capacity.

In Belgium, it's a standard €575 fine - regardless of the amount.

Still a complete liberty when I've paid full duty on the fuel in another EU country.
It's just because the colour is not to their liking.
Perhaps we should charge all yachts coming into the UK with Belgian Beer on board £5 a bottle extra irrespective of size.... :p

I'm guessing that any updates would have been highlighted across the forum, but am I safe to assume that the Belgians aren't really pushing this? I'm thinking of heading that direction from Burnham at the weekend. I have a couple of duty-paid receipts, a hunger for mussels and a thirst for something trappiste.

why would you need a receipt for white.
white is white tax / duty paid, init

So, if that's the case, a receipt showing you have paid full duty on the red in the UK would suffice but it clearly isn't the case because it's just the colour that freaks them out.
As I've said before, I am not going anywhere near Belgium Holland etc until this stupidity stops.
It's a real shame cos I'd rather go there than the south coast AGAIN next summer and I miss the places, the bier and the mussels etc so much so that we ended up in Ostende as part of a road trip last year.
Why is it always us poor individuals that end up getting the rough end of the pineapple when it should have been sorted out ages ago at EU/government level.
Perhaps we should start a Fish Fight type of campaign. Who can we get to champion the cause?
