I'm looking for a couple of good quality folding chairs to keep onboard for pontoon, beach etc use.

Any recommendations?

Cheap ones from Millets complete with bag to carry to beach - also useful if bbq if on pontoon etc with cobb on table. We had 4 -one of them broke it’s plastic sliding bits but 3 have survived very well with multiple trips to France and West Country,go in dinghy easily in bags and lockers. Not quality but do the job

I carry folding fishing jobbies ... alloy X frames with canvas bum seat ... cheap as chips fold down flat and take up very little room in that under cockpit bunk that gets used as storage.

The Helinox range are simply superb. Priceier than some but wonderfully compact, stylish, corrosion proof (anodised alloy struts) and very practical.

She really likes it, and it takes up very little space when folded. Probably not the best quality, but a lot less painful to replace when the seawater finally gets it.

My top tip is to go to a camping shop and test the various offerings for comfort. They are not all equal, and price is no indicator of comfort - it's a matter of finding one that suits your back and bum.

Thanks all

I love the look of the teak Directors' chairs, but the price makes me wince! And not quite as practical or versatile for me.

The Helinox Chair Two, looks worth a try, with potential uses both on and off the boat, thanks Slowboat.

We have a pair very like those that madam bought from Tescos for very little. They pack into a cylindrical condom which is easier to stow than chairs that fold flat.

Not folding so don’t necessarily fit the brief but we use beanbags which make very comfy seating while underway, at anchor, in harbour or even at the beach although they can be fun to get ashore in the dinghy. As they are always in use stowage space is not an issue. They could even be used as a flotation device in an emergency.
