Recommend me a impeller pulller

At a guess a metric fine thread would be place to start

There are at least three sizes of puller and the thread will be slightly larger than shaft diameter

Looking at the photos it appears that the central bolt is a standard one, probably 8 or 10mm, The threads on the big diameter look as if they are the same pitch, which means 1.25 or 1.5mm pitch. Even on my imperial lathes I can get pretty close to either. When I get hold of a threaded impeller I will use some putty or similar to take an impression of the threads so that I can measure them as I doubt there are enough threads to measure with an ordinary thread gauge. Given a 16mm splined shaft the thread might even be 3/4 UNF. It only has to engage about a turn so a 16TPI thread would be OK.

Hi,

I have no way of removing an impeller to inspect it... My screwdriver/pilers removal technic damaged the old one I just replaced.

Any recommendations for a decent one? Do not need a gold plated one as I will only use it once a year (hopefully!)

Thanks in advance.

I made my own by modifying a standard toolmakers clamp with small screws fastened through the jaws with the heads filed to chisel points.

Could anyone forward this thread to the genius at Yanmar who decided to fit the waterpump on my 3JH3E behind the alternator, facing backwards and with barely enough clearance from the starter motor to slide the impeller into place? Makes replacing an impeller an interesting exercise that I hope I won’t ever have to do in a hurry on a lee shore.

My previous boat had a Perkins engine with the waterpump at the front, and I could not imagine anyone putting it elsewhere.
And Yanmar are actually designed as a "marine" engine, unlike the Kubota. I can understand early marine engines then just sat under a box, so access was never an issue but in modern engines is unforgivable

I use a little car windscreen wiper removal puller , about £5 ebay. grips nicely around center of the impeller.
