Recommend me a grease gun please

If you can find one buy a grease tub like the image below which has a disc with a hole in it. Invert the opened end of the grease gun an press down. This fills the grease gun with little or no mess. I have retained an old tub as not all grease tubs come with the disc.

Having lots of construction plant I soon found out that was a waste of time as it allows a lot of air into the tube. Even if one draws the plunger back as one fills it. So the problem Is that every so often one has to undo the bleed screws to eject the air. That usually ends up creating a mess. So apart from an expensive way to buy grease it is time consuming.

It works for me.
But I only have the steering on the boat to grease once or twice a year.

Been there recently.

Grease guns can be filled from pouch or a cartridge. Some can do both.

After having grease everywhere but though the grease nipple, I solved it once and for all by fitting a locking coupler to the gun outlet.

Which reminds me, this type of nipple went out of fashion about 80 years ago. A more reliable connection, but any grease gun end is really a consumable, they wear out or get full of dirt, and they're not expensive.

TBH I didn't find the locking type cheap...
