Looking for at least 4 200cmx20cmx2cm planks to help finish Roach's interior. I would prefer using solid wood rather than going down the plywood veneer route. Any pointers?

A couple of years ago a friend bought a solid Mahogany door from the local tip for £20. We cut it up and most of it has found its way into our respective boats. Beautiful Mahogany and in perfect condition. Tips are worth taking a look at.

Search for CLYDEWANDERER of this parish.
He has a source for mahogany which I availed myself of a few months ago.
He's a bit far away from you, but you might be able to work something out.
There was a job lot of red mahogany on Ebay boats and watercraft yesterday.

I cant stand the guilt any longer.

I have to own up, I have a dismantled mahogany staircase that would yiled the right size parts, I got it for nothing from someone on the forum but I need it for my deck.

1930's build speed boat, built with a varnished mahogany deck.

Unusual for a deck on a yacht but not uncommon at all on this kind of thing.

That's quite alright Sir.

She's a pretty old thing, with two oval cockpits but sadly after 20 years in a barn a little worse for wear.

I have so many projects and a wandering eye for rusty rotten old junk its doubtfull she will ever get finished.

Maybe I should rationalise....

Re: I cant stand the guilt any longer.

Nay! nay!.............never say die! Don't do it Sir, rationalising will be the death of us all!

Look what happened when they rationalised the railways! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif......................

Erm, I think?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On a more serious note, which is a shame in a way......
I think the Italians were the masters of that particular style of boat building. They built some truly beautiful boats in their time, and maybe still do?

But still, if ya must rationalise, I will take it off ya hands for a fiver, yep even site unseen as it where, now don't swoon away at my unacustomed generosity! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have to disagree, to my mind, the (oh god it pains me to say this...) Americans are the masters, Garwood and Hacker at the top of the pile.

Pains you!!.................How dare you Sir! It's true enough, the yanks a good at yer basic chippying, but there is nothing one can do about their basic lack of taste and finesse! They yanks have raised crass, to unimaginable levels of ...............well of............CRASS!

Ere! lets see a pic of this heap of unrationalised slowly rotting pile of nautical pulchritude /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
