Rechargeable anchor light (LED)

Something like this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/2724660716...temId=272466071604&opid=2385738&pageci=cj2580

Does not say how bright it is and would need to be inserted in a clear waterproof container.

I'd guess that would make a hurricane lantern seem bright.
There must be a hackable led product out there though. I'm with olewill but would rather not use a glass jar - keeping my eyes open for a 360 clear lens and body donor. Maybe pick up a quality old school battery lantern cheap, gut it & put adequate high power leds ( look up lamp spec for a 2 mile nav light and make led array to match, or even an off the shelf compliant lamp) & batteries or 12v cable to boat supply?
For cordless, battery capacity must the the challenge but may be surmountable but haven't done the maths

The more I read the suggestions the happier I am with my LED camping lantern which I hang in the fore triangle.

D cells are inconvenient and compared to others a little expensive but it appears waterproof, is a good size and is speced for long battery life, borne out so far in use.

About two years old now, used for six full nights at anchor, still on the first pair of batteries. It is possible to buy AA battery holders that are about the size of D cells that could be wired up and fitted with rechargable AA's.

If the cost or inconvenience of using D cells gets to me, that is a possible option.

But I probably wont bother...........................

Rotrax, I was just looking at camping lanterns. A branded one must be better than many options and perfectly good enough for any anchorage I think I might use. The regs might call for 2 mile visibility, but in practice you're just warning people looking for a space.
One could always upgrade the LEDs if anxious.

Not interested at all in the masthead ones that are such a pain in a crowded anchorage.

I'm not convinced by this. If I stick a lamp halfway up my forestay it's at roughly masthead height for a Seawych and if I stick a light at my masthead it's roughly halfway up the forestay of a 36 footer.
