Further to my previous post. I have now had it confirmed that the motor on my Cetrek auto helm has failed and needs either replacing, both difficult and expensive, or rebuilding. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might get someone to undertake the work. I’m based in Chatham, Kent, although that need not be a limiting factor.

Thanks,

Is it a Cetrek 930-404 like this. 20220711_170324.jpg
I have just refurbished the motor on mine. Brushes were still good after 35 years but the commutator was very dirty/scored. Cleaned with fine emery paper. The motor is easy to dismantle and check.

Its of note that Brushless motors are usually of set sizes and voltage .... quite often a replacement can be made by generic motor of same can size / voltage ... the only trick is to ensure mount bolts match.
