Two comments:
1. I use an aerosol can of an automotive product Waxoyl for coating terminals that are exposed to salt water. It sets to a waxy, hard coating that contains inhibitors. The advantage over Vaseline and other greases is that it doesn't rub off. Seems to work well.
2. IMHO cigar lighter sockets have no place on a boat. They are not that good in a car, come to that. Electrical connection is hit or miss and galvanically they leave a lot to be desired, wide open to corrosion. I standardised on Dri-plugs years ago, both inside and out, and have never had a problem with one, even the one just inside the anchor locker, constantly wet.
