Hi,i wonder if anyone out there can enlighten me to the perils of re-naming my boat as superstition has it that this is unlucky unless some kind of ritual is performed!!
If you are superstitous, do not do it. You will never relax, any minor glitch will be blamed on the rename, etc. etc. But if you are not superstitious, just call her what you will, she is your boat after all.
There are some folk on here who can give you links to web sites with all the recommended mumbojumbo for those who have worries, but as you can see I have no such qualms and so did not bother to make a note of said web sites.
But either way, it is what makes you happy, so be happy with your boat and enjoy her, that is what it is all about isn't it?

Welll,, Im not a superstitious type, and I dont consider myself away with the fairies either... but..
Bought boat, no problems, good survey.
Changed name when we couldnt register under the current one,
Cylinder head cracked, lifted to fix, discovered trim tabs falling off, plus odvious blistering (Though Slight) .
Now I personally had a good look at the TT's when we bought, and we did a thorough out of water survey which I supervised, and their was no sign of blistering......
So, read into it what you will.
I would not change a boats name again, So make sure its got a good one when you buy her.
Could be of course that we really P***** of neptune, we actually at one point had BOTH names on the boat at the same time whilst in the water....
Could also be that the boat was just crap of course.
We are currently in the same posistion. Getting a new boat but not to keen on the current name.
Decided to live with it 'cos "that is what she is called" plus all the paper work has that name on it! ie VAT receipt, invoices, ssr etc.
Change the name, change the luck is one tradition. Koumera 1 was lying unloved in a brokerage. Jedi is all clean (ish), gets maintained and loved and cuddled and... Oh and some sod ripped half her galley out on Saturday, a week before she takes the sod to forn parts
