RE \'getting away with murder what would have done?
There is a post below about basically justice and let the punishment fit the crime :
Here is a personal experience
15 September 2006
My House
At approximately 4:25am I awoke to see a man leaving my bedroom.
I immediately got up and followed after him.
As I reached our Family room, I saw him just as he turned off a table lamp next to an open window.
He started to go out the window.
I did not see him have a weapon.
I grabbed him and violently hauled him and threw into the room on the couch (unfortunately not on the hard floor or the wall) and landed on top of him.
As I was about to start pummelling, he said ”Let me go or I cut you”.
I backed off with hands raised and said “ just leave” “ just leave”.
He kept saying ”Let me go or I cut you”.
He had a 15” cutlass in his right hand.
I backed out of the room and he turned the lock button on the door. He left.
I asked my wife (who was helplessly watching all this) to call the police.
Although very upset she called.
The police arrived at 4:50am.
He stole my wife’s mobile phone and /-£20:00(equivalent) from her bag. We have cancelled the number etc.
He was a little under 5’10" and of thin build.
He was wearing dark blue or black clothes.
Would you have grabbed the guy?
What would you have done?

Turns out he was HIV positive.

Two weeks later when spotted in process of a burglary, he shot a policemen (with the other policemen's gun) dead but the policemen he shot managed THANK GOD shot him dead.
I ask again, if you saw the man in your house what would you have done?
Also note that if you killed him you would have had to move as your family and you would always remember the dead body each time you enetered that room.
You weould have to live the resrt of your life knowing you killed somebody
and the way the criminal system works I would still be in costody awaiting trial!!!
I ask again, if you saw the man in your house what would you have done?
