The stop button on this tohatsu o/b has popped off. How on earth do you get it back on? I'veIMG_20210627_120955_edit_1548903874780841 (2).jpg tried pushing it on, heating it in boiling water first, lubricating the inner edge with washing up liquid. Nothing seems to allow it to pop onto its rim. Anyone able to give me some clue what to try next.

Just a thought ..... does it not come through from behind ?

Cannot remember which OB it was - but after Failsafe pulled button out - panel was removed .. button refitted and panel refitted with button passing through from behind.

Last time mine broke I bought a new switch Outboard Engine Motor Scooter ATV Kill Stop Switch Safety Tether Cord Lanyard JO | eBay

www.solocoastalsailing.co.uk

Remove the fitting from the front panel prob held on by big plastic nut,.
Refit stop button the rubber is streched over the main switch contacts
Refit the entire unit from the back of front panel

Are you pulling the cord to stop the engine? Many users do not know that you can stop the engine by pushing the button in with your thumb, leaving the cord engaged. Less wear.

Also what catalina1 said.
It's been in the shed and moved by builders along with a lot of other stuff. I was tidying up and noticed it. Another boat job on the list I guess.
