I have a Raytheon ST4000 Plus Autohelm, which came with a boat I bought five years ago and has always worked fine. When I turned it on yesterday, it asked for a four-digit code. It has never required a code before, and I have not set a code. The operation manual says that if you forget your code, you have to take the unit to a dealer to reset it, which will be difficult as I am currently away sailing. I there anything I can do to get it going again?

I have both the service and installation manual as .pdf files.
I think they may be available on the Raymarine website, but if you don't have them and/or can't find them on line, PM me and I'll email them to you.
I've scanned both manuals and don't see any reference to a 4 digit code, so I not sure how much use the manual will be for this particular problem, but they may be useful to have.

have you tried 0000? I don't know if this will help but you can enter Dealer Setup mode by pressing & holding Standby for 14 seconds. This may then hopefully give you a Factory Reset option????

AFAIK the ST4000+ itself has no code lock, but a ST4000+ drive could be controlled by a ST50 era controller that does. This feature was put in deliberately to make the expensive heads not worth stealing. There would be no point in an anti theft codelock if it was easily defeated. It was however annoying and Autohelm/Raymarine dropped it from later devices.

Thanks. I do have the manual, and it does refer to a 4 digit CodeLock. It says that if you forget the code, you have to return the unit to a Raymarine dealer. I am on my boat, and can't get to a dealer.

You are correct. It is the controller that needs the code, but the controller is labelled ST4000+

Thanks. I have tried 0000, 9999 and several other numbers to no avail. My manual describes the Dealer Setup mode but that does not reset the code.

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem, it asks a code and I can only use it with the remote...
I wonder if you solved this, and if you had an advise to provide me.
Thank you very much in advance.
