I have an S100 remote and I usually wear it round my neck while underway. It came with a strap that fixed to a bit of plastic on the unit.
However, yesterday the bit of plastic on the unit gave way and it fell to the floor as I came into dock (fortunately bouncing along the pontoon and not into the water).

I am not sure what happened, but I have a new lifejacket so I have a feeling it must have got caught up in a different way. I would have expected the strap to give way before the plastic, but the unit is 10 years old and I left it on the boat last winter .

I am trying to think what to do now. I couldnt find anyone selling any kind of case type thing specifically for this device.

Anyone know of any good alternatives so I can continue to have it securely on me when underway?

Joe,
I had a similar issue, I had the strap around my neck and after standing up after using a halyard winch did not realise that the S100 was caught. The plastic for the attachment broke. I replaced this with some thin cord line which I glued using araldite (epoxy) to the casing after roughening with sandpaper. This fix has lasted 2 years now.

Thanks. I will have a look at both ideas.

Yesterday I had the remote in one of those waterproof phone bags you take to the beach. It worked OK, but there is a bit more bag than there needs to be.

I was really surprised the plastic gave way before the lanyard. I am so used to the kind of lanyard we have on the office security passes, which have to have a weak point to reduce the risk of accidental strangling.
