Deleted User, have I missed a key update here - does all this imply that you've got the new boat?
Come on Mike F - out with it!

Er yes. I know its against forum regulations for a forumite to buy another boat without discussion and the prior approval of the forum but impulse got the better of me. We're on our first shakedown cruise now exploring the Ligurian coast in Italy. I'm very pleased with the boat and I've been very pleased with the buying process in Italy and I will put a thread on the forum next week about our experience with some picsCome on Mike F - out with it!
maby, providing you are cruising at a constant speed, the ETA info is pretty accurate and for me very useful because it dictates my cruising speed. If you have to get to your destination by a certain time or before nightfall or to meet a tidal window, knowing your ETA will decide your minimum cruising speedI guess one might question how meaningful any such figure is likely to be. There are many variables that influence the speed of a boat over a long passage - in the absence of up-to-date weather forecasts covering the entire passage, I would think that any ETA has to be treated with a large degree of scepticism.
Aside from seconding what Deleted User already said in general, there's another point worth mentioning.I guess one might question how meaningful any such figure is likely to be. Sitting at home reading through the manual for Lighthouse 2, which I have just installed, the manual shows that the chart application data boxes can display "Route ETA" and "Route TTG", not sure if this is part of what you are looking for because I'm still getting used to the system.
Hoorah. Perhaps they have finally listened! Will install lighthouse 2 this weekend and report back.![]()

This sounds like good news. How do you obtain and install lighthouse 2?Ok only a month late. Installed lighthouse 2.
It does indeed now allow TTG route and ETA route to be selected in data boxes. Hoorah. Not distance to end of route unfortunately, but hey still an improvement.
