The ultimate cheapest way is to have an android tablet instead, in a waterproof casing, running OpenCPN or something similar..

There probably is not a modern plotter that fits the same space. The cheapest self contained plotters are ONWA and the three main makers, Garmin, Raymarine and B&G all have standalone. If you have your plotter linked to other instruments then the choice becomes more complicated.
Sorry if this sounds unhelpful but there is not a simple answer.
