I'm looking to buy a Raymarine C70 display unit. DOes anybody know if my current 2kW Raymarine Pathfinder radome will be compatible with it- I tried asking at SIBS, but all they did was try to tell me I needed a whole new system.

Thanks

Alex

Ask Kevin Smith at Yachtbits he is very good on Raymarine kit. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.yachtbits.fsnet.co.uk>http://www.yachtbits.fsnet.co.uk</A>

The C series is not compatible with hsb2 but I would have thought the radar input would be OK. I am looking for a R 530 plus chart plotter if you are changing an existing set up.

That's what I'm wondering, can I just plug the existing radome into the C70 or does it need more kit, or even a new radome!!!

In principle, you can just plug it straight in, but it depends on the serial number and age of your radome. There is information on Raymarine's site <A target="_blank" HREF=http://raymarine.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/raymarine.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=2jOXk3sh&p_lva=&p_faqid=964&p_created=1075494846&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTEwOCZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPTMmcF9wcm9kX2x2bDE9NiZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMj1_YW55fiZwX2NhdF9sdmwxPX5hbnl_JnBfc29ydF9ieT1kZmx0JnBfcGFnZT0x&p_li=>here</A>

The best advice is to wait for the London Boat Show. I have just seen an advert for the E series (to be launched at the show) which is a multi-station (up to 8 I think) version of the C Series. See p44 of the January PBO which has just hit the newsagents.

E series looks superb and well worth wating for if you want fully integrated system. i ran the c 120 along side my raymarine rl series and sharing imformation with it mainly to get the big screen radar display [i advise the c 120 by the way for this reason] Raymarine swapped from c charts to navionics for the c series. a change of system may involve the expense of updating your charts. i still play the c charts on my rl plotter

My understanding is that radomes with firmware V11 or later will be ok, but not earlier. To find out the version in your radome do :-
MENU - RADAR SETUP - (hold) ENTER 5secs - BUILT IN TEST On this page the scanner info is displayed e.g hours, serial no#, s/ware ver (Both Unit and scanner)
