Raw water issues

I am having issues with my raw water system.

The impeller has been replaced, heat exchanger cleaned, water filter cleaned and I am having issues with water being pumped through. I have to prime the system by pumping the hoses cpr style to get water flowing. Once it is going, all is fine.

What could be causing this issue?

Agree. Check lid of strainer first.

Thanks. There is no water coming out of the strainer lid.

Yes internal face was worn so I have flipped it over. VP MD22

There won't be water coming out, the problem could be air getting in through a tiny crack in the lid or poor seal. This will prevent a vacuum building up to lift water from the sea water intake to the basket. This fault is quite hard to spot.
