Wouldn't it be a nice idea if it was possible for other forumites to put a score on a posting and on the replies given to it? So if someone would post a sensible question 'we' would rate it with let's say a 8 and if one of the replies would be not even worth the space on the harddisk, we would rate it with 1.

That way the forum could become even more democratic...

Why?? It couldent be more deocratic, you chose what you want to read.
And there is such a divers group useing this forum the voteing would be a compleat waist of time
More useful would be an easy way of adding an image-if the forums worried about slowing things down more then they should be approved, that way i could show a 20byte gif of an autohelm 2000 which due to auto helm changing modles and keeping the same designations needed, but the huge submarines posted elswhere wouldent-though they were quite impresive!

System supports user rankings

We quickly ditched user rankings after a brief experiment because everyone became remarkably self-obsessed within about five minutes - I suspect a post ranking system would not exactly offer an objective guide to the most useful posts either.

To be honest if the original poster chooses a suitably descriptive Subject then the rest is academic - the interest will follow.

You already can. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and on the left, you can select 1 to 5 stars. Currently this thread has been rated at 1 star

Re: System supports user rankings

ShipsCat offered to award me some skull and Xbones if the feature was introduced.
