I know it's a bit early to be thinking about the weekend but we set off on Thursday and I might forget tomorrow.
The EOA (Elizabethan Owners' association) are holding a rally (only 'cos we're Elizabethans its a Raleigh - no kidding) in Weymouth this weekend. There's usually only 20 or so of us so we won't be taking over the Cove completely. Anyone interested in old grp boats is welcome to raft up, or drop in, especially on Friday evening, and if you find yourself moored in the middle of us you may be asked to partake of a drink and listen to how wonderful our various boats are, but you won't be asked to move. Anyone who might recognise me from the forum will be welcome to drop in on Evadne and help celebrate her 40th birthday on Friday anyway. Anyone who expresses a desire to buy a Liz of any size and wants advice will get their feet nailed to the pontoon and may suffer brain damage by the morning. We are nothing if not enthusiastic.
I'm hoping that nice Mr Thomas turns up in the interesting-looking motor boat he had last year that I failed to go and get a good look at, so I can remedy my uncharacteristic lack of inquisitiveness.

I would, although given my performance in marina berthing in the last 12 months I'll be trying to avoid physical contact as much as possible!

Sounds like a wizard do. Was tempted to join you in the 'miscellaneous old fibreglass' class until I looked at the tides which make it a bit of a slog from Hamble on Saturday. Have a pint for me.

Any sign of 'Tabard'? She was my late uncle's boat. An Elizabethan 30 I think. She used to be kept in Portland Harbour. I hope that you are all friendlier than the Nauticat rally I encountered in the Cove one year.

Thanks for all your good wishes, I'll try and get someone to put a few pictures up on our website at some time, and I'll check the membership list for "Tabard" and "Callisto of Parkstone".
I think a lot of the 30's will be going backwards, it looks like there will be light norwesterlies until we turn back for the Solent when they become light easterlies. Fortunately the 29s are much faster... still, as my wife says, I'd rather have strong sunshine and indifferent winds on my holidays than the other way around.

Sailed a 29 'Lizzie' out of Emsworth last year - cracking sail but the owner is a bit cautious about going too far so unlikely to see him Weymouth.

It was over 16 years ago that I owned Callisto of Parkstone, I still have photographs of her under sail hung in my office and a very nice half model (given me by the next owner) still has pole position on the living room wall. Callisto was up on the East Coast I think.

Good wishes for your rally, we might even stop by to say hi since Portland or Cherbourg are our current options for this weekend. (too mean to go into Weymouth, like to anchor in Castle Cove and use the BBQ on the back).
