Radio (VHF) courses

Does anyone know of any good teachers that do the course in the solent area. The problem I am having is finding somewhere on a Saturday, as i cant get anytime off work. Thanks

Try Warsash maritime college, they run the SRC course on a Saturday (next available is 21st June) fee £80 plus £19 RYA exam fee. See

£80 What a con.
I did the 1.5 day Radio course (incl SDC) at Southend Activity Centre over a weekend. The cost £35 + £19 for licence.

£35 + £19? what a con! I did it with my sailing club and only had to pay £20 + £19 including DSC (is that better than SDC?) but I guess thats no help to the poster!
If you are not a member of a club I would suggest looking at adult education centres, I know Brookfied School in Locksheath runs a VHF course along with many others in the Solent area.
