Radio puzzle?

Years ago I went on to the long visitors waiting pontoon in Breskens where the sign (written in English) said to call the HM on VHF 30. Fortunately another (Dutch) yachtsman called him for me. Since then they installed a calling post. Not sure if it is still the case.

In my limited(!) experience, 37 is useful for taxi or marina traffic - so my plan is to buy a cheapish handheld for that kind of thing and retain the fixed radio for more general purpose communication. Just need to make sure the handheld includes the few UK-only channels!
As for today, fortunately my buddy ("Fisherman") had the phone number for Helford taxi - it's not on the Helford Moorings website so I didn't have it. It's on the sign at the ferry jetty, so I have the number now!

All marina Comms are now on 31 in the Netherlands and Belgium. (Which is problematic as it's an RNLI only channel in the UK so you need a licence variation from Ofcom to use it and in many cases a new firmware in the radio).

Many of the analogue channels have been split and made digital - be aware that transmitting over the digital bands is an offence.

Sorry to be pedantic but the channel 31 that the RNLI use is 31A, a simplex channel, whereas the 31 used in the Netherlands is 31 duplex channel

Following suggestions, I've ordered a Standard Horizon KX210e from Amazon. I checked it has access to the "extra" UK channels, so it will be a useful handheld for marina approaches and taxi calling!
