Took Harlequin out for another shakedown cruise yesterday. Everything worked really well except for the radar.

It's on old Koden unit which I belive is a fairly good but old 32NM range model. It used to work, and I have seen it working this year but yestday all got was a screen of random dots.

Out in Swansea bay I should have been able to easily see the the coastline, the other boats and bouys but all I got was a screen of dots or if I reduced the screen clutter - nothing.

I played around with all of the controls for about 15 minutes before I gave up. I have to admit to not knowing what I am doing with it, but I got it working before....

Any ideas? Does it sound like it has a problem? When I adjust the range, I can see the nasa battery monitor showing more drain (~4amps for 32NM range) so it looks like it is doing something!

Bod in the marina has an old one of that make.
It was doing simlar .
Expeirienced Salty Dog type fixes everything himself .
Said item lives on a 1962 Miller Fifer (nice thing)
Having tried all he knew to fix the downstairs bit to no avail.
He investigated the upstairs bit to find the bits in the "Dome"? had died of old age.
Just an observation, don,t know about domes and stuff like that.
But I know a man who does!
If you don,t get any help on here which no doubt you will ,model, year etc etc you know the script.

No expert but, found my Furuno (old) does need a very good earth to perform properly.

Anything similar with yours ??

That is certainly one thing I can try next week - go around and check all of the connections...
