Quiet water pumps

Posting for a friend who lives on a narrwboat who wants to replace her 12v domestic water pump and heating circulation pump with something quieter.

Any recommendations?

All the fresh water pumps are quite noisy. One tip is to mount it on a board which is secured to the boat via something sound absorbent. Much of the noise will be vibration transmitted through the hull.

He could always mount ìt in a soundproof box and sit this it on rubber, along with the existing rubber mounts on the pump it should then be inaudible.

Thanks for the advice and I'll pass it on. However, I'm amazed that there are no "silent" modern pumps. After all, domestic central heating pumps are virtually silent these days.

I may be alone in this, but I like quite a noisy one as it has alerted me to leaks in the system on a couple of occasions by cutting in, saving me a bilge full of fresh water.....

Contrary to what many forumites have stated, the Jabsco constant pressure pumps are very quiet.
They do not have a pressure switch so no "hunting"
