Quiet domestic water pump

My domestic water pump now leaks and needs replacing, it's one of those that look like an antique sewing machine with a toothed belt drive to a diaphragm pump. It makes a noise like a machine gun but does quite a good job in providing water to two shower/wash rooms, the galley sink and an outside washdown hose (not simultaneously of course)

I would like to replace it with a quieter one. Before I spend what appears to be something over £100 with my fingers crossed, is there anyone out there with experience of which to buy??

small, reliable, not silent but i can live with it and it has its own pressure regulator

Jabsco Sensor Max. V quiet compared to all others I have heard and doesnt need an accumulator tank or pressure switch as it is a constant pressure pump. Well worth considering.

TOO quiet and....

...one day you might just burn the pump out when someone inexperienced leaves it running with an empty tank.

Also it's a great way of detecting a leak.

(Both assume pressurised system - which I think is crazy on a boat but all new boats now seem to have them in preference to microswitches.)

That was how I discovered the PUMP was leaking! Amazing how noisy they are in the night isn't it.

If I change to the Jabsco Sensor V pump will the "pressure reservoir" system still be OK?

Yes your accumulator system should be OK. Some pumps on the market even have an integral small accumulator tank The new owner of my old boat has recently changed from a whale to the Jabsco with no ill effects.

Other options come form Flojet and Sureflow. The latter is quieter.

When you've replacedyour pump with a queiter one, can I have your old one please, they are one of the most reliable pumps ever made. Don't worry I'll repair the leak, I have lots of spare, belts for them and you can make diaphragms out of any rubber sheet.
