I've been offered a new Aries Flair at a very generous price by a friend who has changed his boat before fitting it.
The problem I can see is that my boat, a Moody 33, has a deep well in the foredeck which would place the vertical axis windlass well below the height of the bow roller.
Quick give no guidance on the limits of chain angle the windlass can tolerate, neither in the enclosed instructions nor on their website. I really don't want to raise the windlass up on a timber stand so that option is out.
I'd rather pass on the offer than hack into the boat to "suck it and see".
Does anyone have any experience which might provide me with a pointer on this?
