Questions on moving to the Med

sounds like it will be an extended delivery trip form Genoa, few days spent in Antibes just getting her ready and visiting the local boat shops..

Approx 8 weeks until shipping so trying to get a few things sorted.

Does anyone know what type of electric shore power hook up is used in Port Vauban an who supplies the connectors?

on our shore power lead we have a standard male CEE 32A Blue 3pin, mono phase connector, (or you could use CEE 63A or CEE xx red triphase 5pin if appropriate for your boat)

with that type connector, you can connect at some ports in the med (wild guess 25%)
then I have a few short 0.5m convertor cables from female CEE32A Blue to different types of commonly used plugs, such as CEE63A blue, CEE32 5pin triphase red, .....

and I have one converter cable, female CEE32A Blue to loose wires at the plug end, to use in ports like PV or Bandol, who use very uncommon connectors, but you can borrow or rent or buy that plug then in the port.

advantage of these CEE plugs is that they are cheap and widely available,
and IMHO better then Marinco,

These CEE's are maybe not the best quality, but they are widely used here in europe,
quality is OK when using a known brand

If you need more technical info about them, or about the convertor leads mono phase - triphase, don't mind to asc

Yup. Remember hardware shops are not open on weekends in March. We can discuss nearer the time but I can get you an Antibes shorepower plug in advance and mail to you, or have ready for your arrival. This will be important if you arrive on a Saturday otherwise you have the best part of weekend running your genset!

Finally on our way. The boat has left Southampton this morning, a day late due to MCA boarding the ship for an inspection.

Eta genoa morning April 6th, then arrive evening in Antibes. Flights booked with a couple of friends into genoa on the 5th and the family joins on the 7th.

Just keeping an eye on the ship tracker now.

Fingers crossed for a week on board for Easter.

Great stuff. Several of us in Antibes will be there then to greet you.

We have got you a 63amp Antibes shorepower plug if you want it: it will be waiting when you arrive.

To tell the truth, JT builder needed one for 3 days so we bought one rather than rented, knowing you'd want it. Pricewise they were €200 from the port electrician, whom we sent packing, and we ended up getting one at the big electrical store for a still crazy €165 which, crazy though it is, is as cheap as you can get one. So er it's available brand new minus 3 days use if you'd like to make JTBuilder an offer in that crazy order of magnitude!

Anyway, see you when you arrive and best wishes for the journey

Excellent. Thanks v much.
€165 and no hassle is perfect.

HopIng the ship gains some ground over the next week or so.
