Question for CP180 or CP300 Plotters?

That manual does indeed imply that an external antenna can be used on the "i" versions. However, other manuals suggest otherwise, so I suppose Standard Horizon changed the spec of the units at some point and therefore the OP needs to physically check the plotter he's planning to buy to see whether it is a version which can have an external antenna.

This manual suggests no external antenna connection - http://www.standardhorizon.com/downloadFile.cfm?FileID=5852&FileCatID=85&FileName=CP180%28i%29%20%26%20CP300%28i%29%20V16%2E20.pdf&FileContentType=application/pdf

Anyone with these Standard Horizon Pltters.... Do the models with internal GPS receivers also have a socket for an external antena?

Depending on the construction of your boat, if it's GRP the plotter with the unbuilt antenna will almost certainly work just fine inside. I have the 300i with the external antenna but the signal is so good I never bothered fitting the antenna outside, it is just tuck up out of the way near the chart-table.
