Do you fly the Q flag on arriving in France?

Do you have one (I don't)?

I have no problem going out to buy one if it's necessary, but the money could go on vin rouge instead.

No need to fly Q, France is in the EU. However a French courtesy ensign from your starboard spreader is nice. It should only be worn inside territorial waters.

Thanks John.

After I posted I thought I should have been less terse; I've not taken this boat to France before, and when I've been with other people I don't remember anybody using Q, or seeing it on other boats, but there was much discussion on here some time ago about exactly how to fly it.

Cheers

The CI told us not to bother with a Q flag some years ago and even before that they only used it to come along for marina fees.

English C&E once said "off the record, but nip into Cherbourg on your way from the CI but don't disturb the French as you're not importing anything and they don't want to be bothered with trifles anyway. Then on return to UK you have come from an EU country."
