Qhm vhf stream online

Anyone know if there is a qhm vhf stream available (of Southampton vts) online?

I had hoped when I saw the title that you were announcing it's relaunch. The Solentwaters stream closed down about 18 months ago, I think, and I haven't been able to find it elsewhere on line. I'm not sure why, but I used to enjoy listening in when I'd been away from the boat for a while, even if nothing ever happens.

so, i am about 32miles, 50km from Portsmouth, is it even possible to receive their transmitions that far away?
any amateur radio people around?

There are lots of variables in the equation, particularly the line of the South Downs that separate Portsmouth from the rest of the home counties.

QHM base will have a decent aerial mounted high up. If you also have a decent aerial outside on the roof then the theory at VHF says it is possible. Certainly on 2metres (amateur radio) I can happily achieve that on 25 Watts FM with my roof height mounted aerial. However, that would be to the BASE. You would not be able to hear the boat side of the conversation, they are clearly at sea level with low mounted aerials. The equivalent in amateur terms would be trying to listen to mobile stations on the input of a repeater and they you are looking at 10 -12 miles with a decent receiving aerial.

A very high aerial, or aircraft mounted, would be the only chance at that distance.
