Re: praps need to live n let live

Sorry, having re-read does sound a bit strong, and obviously bile meant for them not yourself in anyway. Unfortunately I've had just a few too many to just let em get on with it. My biggest fear is the Tele Ads "Had a fall? had a Jet Ski accident, lets sue the tail off that "millionaire" motor boater, if he hadn't made a wake, you wouldn't have jumped it, fell awkwardly and broken your back and become a paraplegic!!" "Doesn't matter, he's insured !!!!"

Sounds stupid, but ............... ????? All the very best to you and sorry again if a bit strong. Paul

Planty, don't listen to JFM on this one. He is contractually obliged to defend PWCs literally and metorphorically /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I'm sorry, But not all PWC riders are like that.
I don't own one, But i did tow one up too the marina with me on Friday night and Yes, I did scoot aboot on it on Saturday. No i didn't have a can a Lager in one hand,No i didn't use my works Van or have a Maxed Power Rover to tow it, Just My 4X4.
When the Ski was launched, it was taken well away from any Boats and well off the shore line so as not too disturb anyone.
And i'm not just talking about myself here, There were several ski's out at the weekend, and from what i could see they all looked too behaveing themselves.

The way you describe it, Britemp. I can't help but get a vision that in England all PWC owners/users are typical English Lager Louts, that move to the water when the football seasons drawing to a close.
And i certainly feel that is not the case with the way we use then North of the Border.

I am neither For or Against PWC, I just feel that there are some responsilble Users, and some iresponsible Users out there, as there is Yachting and Mobo'ing, and i don't think its fair that we are all Tarred with the same brush!!

Heres to good weather for us all to enjoy, Cheers

Alistair.

Gota contradict you there Alistair, I was up on Loch Lomond the weekend before last, stopped for a pint somewhere called duck bay. There must have been 4 or 5 jet skiers pissing around doing tricks and jumps about five feet away from the wall, and they were doing all the things planty said albeit with a Scots twang.... they had the whole bloody Loch to themselves apart from a couple of powerboats which were well off shore but no they persisted on distrubing everyone's piece by the shore.

Well its news to me, I thought i felt quite safe in saying what i said, Because Loch Lomond has some Very strict Policing.
Yes you are correct, Duck bay is at the south end of the Loch near to where the Park Authority office and boats are, So if these guys were arseing around near the shore, then they were playing with fire, Had they been spotted they would probably been thrown straight off the Loch with the possibily of Loseing their craft, The Park Authority even have the Power to put you straight into Court with being a Public nuisance. So thats why we generally don't have a problem.

Well it may be news to you but believe me I've got better things to do than make this up Alistair. I've got some footage on my digi camera somewhere. Just wanted to point out that you English dig wasn't based upon reality. I've got no bone to pick on this as I'm Welsh, although have plenty of other bones of our own. Are you becoming the new happy one of the forum ??????

Long story, not a planned trip, believe it or not ended up there by complete misshap so deceided on ehour before to hire a car and drive to LL.

LL very nice but don't understand why you don't boat on Loch Garr down into the sea, surely lots more to do once you've been round the lake errr i mean Loch a few times, all those navy boats and submarines to play with........

The PWC thing is particularly sensitive up here on Windermere because popular opinion is that it is the PWC hooligan element that has brought the speed limit into force, (note I said element, not wishing to generalise) Now this I think is most probably a correct assumption however there is an awfull lot of other idiots around mobos, raggies, pwc etc. PWC riders have not got a monopoly on idiotic behaviour, they are however currently winning the competition.

My wife and i were talking about that very subject last night, Wether we should move the boat into the Clyde for our Fortnight Holiday in July, But we feel that maybe our boat is not the best boat for the seas, So would be better to wait till we got something bigger..
But hopefully sometime.

Cheers

Re: praps need to live n let live

No offence taken Planty! You've got me worried now about them using no-win-no-fee lawyers to sue the Mobo owner....!

Wakeup, I must be dozy this morning. I don't follow your comment. I'm not defending any pwcs, AFAIK ??

Yeah - they do this off Samsons Bay (Porthmadog) and I always give 'em a good run at it by trimming both drives out and kicking up a humungous wash.

I'm sure this all started fairly light hearted - no need for complete denegration of PWC owners. We all have our place :)

There, but for the grace of God...

Have to confess that I nearly, ahem, mislaid my prop at the top end of the Beaulieu River last Sunday, trying to get to my mooring at LW /forums/images/icons/blush.gif
