Any ideas on how to persuade a raw water impellor out of the 65mm pump body for the purposes of changing it?
I have a removal tool (Admittedly a largish one) which slips off, I have tried the two screwdriver/lever approach. I have tried gripping it with large pliers and prising it out. It just sits there and looks at me!!
It was replaced last year -so it went in allright and I did grease the splines with waterproof grease.
The pump is a Johnson.

Anything else worth trying before I get the chainsaw out.

The only thing you haven't mentioned that I used from time to time before I bought the recommended removal tool is a pair of small, long-nosed mole-grips. You can clamp these in place and give the whole thing a good waggle. Problem is, if you squeeze too hard you will bend the core of the impellor and make it even more difficult to get off. If you end up breaking it you will look upon £25 for the correct-sized removal tool as cheap at the price!

Much obliged. I have got the proper smaller tool on order so I think it will be prudent to put the cover plate back until that arrives. I can keep the bigger tool for the main bilge pump.
By the way, interesting website of yours.

Andy
