Yes I think that's reasonable. Your yacht wouldn't be worth any more than that.

I was paying a couple of years ago £700 for each corner on a 40ft boat. So I would have expected below the £2K inc the gate connecting the port and starboard quarter.

Well, there are pulpits, and pulpits, as it were. I think it depends on exactly what is proposed. £3k sounds like quite a lot for a basic pultit but anything bespoke can quickly go up in price if it's at all complicated.

When I had the Pushpit and Pulpit made up on my 43 ft Yacht I was quoted $2000 and $1200 but I got the job done for $800.

BUT I supplied the 32mm tube and he didn't weld anything (although he was an expert TIG welder). Also he didn't visit the yacht as I made up plywood mock-ups of the bow and stern deck (not at all difficult) and he did everything in his factory unit. Everything worked out fine. My experience here (Perth) is that you can easily be fleeced.

Fred was driving home from one of his business trips, when he saw an elderly man walking on the side of the road.

It seems high. When I was looking for a pushpit for my wee Hunter I had quotes for anything from £400 - £2000. In the end I didn't bother, because she's only used on a freshwater loch, but I got the impression that prices for these things are based on how busy the fabricators are, how rich they think the customers is, the phase of the moon and the wholesale price of linguine as much as on the actual work and materials involved. My best quotes came from architectural SS fabricators, by the way.

It is not a CO33 but a Countess 33 - could not be more different type of boat. £3k still a lot of money though.

I got a new one (Insurance, storm damage at marina) 2 years back. Three quotes required. If I remember right, £650, £850, £1800 (or thereabouts).
The lowest price was perfectly adequate, nicely polished, made to fit.

I'd be surprised if you couldn't get a nice one made up by a local SS fitter for under £500. It's only a few meters of ss tubing, maybe a dozen welds & 4 flat feet. If you do the basic measuring & then take the item to the boat to cut the legs to the correct length & angle they can put the drilled feet on ready for easy fitting.

Think about what is the expensive part of the job & it is visiting, measuring & fitting to the deck (which is unlikely to be flat & level), so take those bits of the job on yourself.

Sounds expensive to me, I had one made 3 years ago in Portugal from drawings and it cost 960 euro incl 23% VAT. Would have done it cheaper for cash but I needed an invoice. Even allowing for increased UK labour rates, £3,000 seems too much.
