Pulling up a muddy anchor chain / slippage

If you are thinking of an electric windlass - think of down sizing the chain. Many yachts have oversized, or generous chain chosen without thought that some of the catenary could be replaced by a snubber. Heavy chain is expensive, heavy, takes up room, is difficult to retreive when you are older and if you do have an electric windlass needs a bigger windlass, which needs heavier cables and uses more power.

We replaced our 8mm chain with 6mm - its magic.
