I found the original anode that went in the water in September 2022 and changed in June 2023, so 9 months. The next anode was in the water for 3 months. The phot shows the two side by side. The first anode weighs 188g and the second 358g. So the difference (assuming weight loss is time dependent) between a 9 month and a 3 month loss is 170g or roughly 30g a month. The original weight is approx 450g (358+90). Assuming the anode remains attached it should last 12 months comfortably. However the first one was partly detached because of excess loss around one bolt hole.

Hopefully the changes explained in the first post will reduce the rate of loss and be more like post#18.

Just to update this a year on. lifted today for a wash. Boat has moved only about 5 times in the last year. Antifoul (cu-Pro) has done well with just slime and a few bits of growth on edges. stern gear was covered in growth and many barnacles on the blades so the sexy black Ecopower was not a success, even though it was mostly still adhered to the blades.

However, most important the prop anode was fine with some small pocks so definitely working. likewise the new hull anode. Phot is a bit long distance but the anode can be seen quite clearly. Straight back in the water after knocking the barnacles off and I will have a lift and wash in the spring then haulout next October for a fresh coat of AF. Coating on the blades needs a rethink and I might bite the bullet and try Velox again.

When weather is OK and I'm free from work .... will be with Emery Cloth and clean up shaft / prop ... then coat with standard antifoul ... along with speed logs, other transducers that attract sea-life !

Here's my Darglow after two seasons with the same prop anode and shaft anode and ready for a third. Both shaft and prop are Veloxed.
My anode used to look like that. I decided it wasn't doing much so swapped it for a new one. Now it's one a year.

I velox mine after hammerite primer. Does fine, but loses it on the tips of the blades which show stainless steel.
