A sister boat -First 38 1984- switched her two bladed fixed prop for a two bladed folding, only to find out that she was penalized harder than the actual speed gains, so next season the fixed one was back. I cannot recall the actual brand used, but it was not a new one, neither one of the top of the scale.
I am considering a KIWI at the moment, but am I falling into the same trap ?

Which handicap system? The Clyde CYCA system takes the folding prop as the standard and awards a totally inadequate allowance for fixed props, as an instance of the opposite situation.

Yup happened to me when I re-engined. There was a small two blade folder on originally and I put a larger two bladed fixed on. Quarter of a minute extra on handicap and all I see now is the arsxxx sorry sterns of my chums disappearing into the distance.

Size (and folding props) matter.
